Parkinson’s disease (PD) may be a serious condition, but that doesn’t mean laughter has to be off-limits. At the recent APDA Virtual Parkinson’s Conference, a group discovered the power of laughter through a delightful session on Laughter Yoga.
Laughter yoga is just the beginning. From seated moving meditation to music therapy and storytelling, various wellness modalities were explored to complement PD treatment plans and promote well-being. Trying something new can be beneficial, so why not pick a session and see how it feels for you? Seated Moving Meditation offers soft, easeful movements connected to breath, while Fun With Music & Rhythm harnesses the power of music to organize our brains and coordinate movements through rhythm.
Storytelling brings understanding to our life experiences and creates a bond between tellers and listeners, fostering a heart-to-heart connection. For those interested in meditation and mindfulness, A Guide to Meditation & Mindfulness provides the opportunity to relieve stress, and anxiety, and increase the ability to enjoy the present moment.
